THE HOBBIT HOME

Hobbit Home

Hobbit Home

In honor of the newly released movie The Hobbit, I thought it would be timely to display visually inspiring images of storybook cottages and hobbit homes.  It’s also the middle of December here in Seattle and the winter has set in.  All I want to do is get cozy and daydream by a warm fire.  With the holidays upon us, I thought it fit to emphasize that the HOME is where the heart is.

Hobbit

Hobbit House

This Hobbit House looks like its straight out of a faerie tale and one would expect little gnomes to be wondering around picking berries.  I’ve been watching the television series Once Upon a Time and this little house would fit in perfectly.  It represents an imaginative place where elves come alive to assist you on your sojourn through the magical forest.

Snow White discovers the cottage

Snow White discovers the cottage

Stumbling upon this storybook cottage in the woods is when Snow White discovers the feeling of being home for the first time.  Home is where we rest our heads at night and dream.  It is the ultimate refuge from the hustle and bustle of the real world.  It is our soft place to land.

Woodland Hideaway

Dream Cottage

If I could imagine the perfect woodland cottage, it would have to be the one painted above nestled in the woods by a flowing creek.  It would be surrounded by forests and trees and have fresh flowers hanging in window baskets and the smell of wood burning in the fireplace.  It would have big arched windows and hand crafted wood molding.  The walls would be painted in a nice Tuscany shade with amber beaded lamps glowing within. It would house all of my vintage treasures and tell a story upon every turn.

The light would shine brightly opening the morning rays.
